Zurich International Women's Association (ZIWA)

ZIWA has been active since 1985 and has a broad enough programme that most members find a handful of groups that fit their interests without the effort of searching across multiple organisations. The 55-plus interest groups include art history, hiking, book clubs, cooking, children’s playgroups and professional development, so the association works both for working expats and accompanying partners adjusting to a new city.

Most events are in English, which makes ZIWA accessible from the first week of arrival. The membership is drawn from many nationalities, so it does not function as a single-country expat club but as a genuinely mixed international community based in Zurich.
