Swissquote is Switzerland’s largest online bank by trading volume, listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and regulated by FINMA. Its expat section pitches multi-currency accounts that can hold, exchange and spend in more than 27 currencies including CHF, EUR, USD and GBP, with a multi-currency debit card that settles transactions in the account currency of your choice without conversion fees for the 13 included currencies.

For newcomers who also want to invest, Swissquote combines a standard current account with access to Swiss, US and European stock exchanges, plus ETFs, bonds and crypto. Account opening is done entirely online with video ID verification and typically completes in three to six weeks. Non-residents can apply from their country of residence, which makes it useful if you want a Swiss account before you move.
