Expat Savvy
Expat Savvy is an independent insurance adviser aimed at English-speaking newcomers. It is registered with FINMA as a non-tied intermediary, which means it has no exclusive arrangement with any single insurer and is supervised by the Swiss financial regulator. The team explains how the compulsory basic plan (KVG/LAMal) and supplementary cover fit together, compares offers across eleven Swiss health insurers including CSS, Helsana, Swica, Sanitas and Groupe Mutuel, and walks you through the three-month registration window that applies to new residents under Swiss law.
The advice extends past health cover to supplementary options such as dental, private and semi-private hospital rooms and alternative medicine, along with third-pillar retirement planning and life insurance. The first consultation is a free 45-minute session in English, available by video, by phone or in person at the Zurich office. Expat Savvy is paid by the insurer once a policy is signed, a model it discloses during the consultation, so the meeting itself carries no charge.
