ZIS is a non-profit school that runs from early childhood at age 3 up to age 18, splitting its primary years between the Waedenswil campus and its older years at the Adliswil campus. The main pathway is taught in English, with a bilingual English-German route available for children up to age 11. The Upper School offers the IB Diploma and a range of Advanced Placement courses.

Alongside the core academics the school runs a STEM focus and an internship programme for older students, plus German language courses that extend to parents.
