Swiss Fibre Net is a joint venture of major telecom operators and utilities that coordinates fiber-optic network deployment across Switzerland. Rather than competing with overlapping infrastructure in the same area, SFN works to bring fiber to underserved regions by bundling multiple operators' investments. Individual ISPs and telecom providers then connect their networks to SFN's backbone.
If you're in a region where fiber deployment is underway, SFN's coordination often means faster rollout than in purely privatized markets. You won't contract directly with SFN, but checking their coverage map helps you understand whether your location is in an active deployment zone and what providers will soon offer fiber service. This is especially useful if you're signing a long-term residential lease.
